About Locust Grove Company

Locust Grove Company was formed in 1981 by 75 Sandy Shore Development property owners to purchase the remaining lake area lots and common-use properties from the community developer. These properties allow access to Lake Wallenpaupack and our community pavilion. The formation of the Company ensured that these lands, which include more than 400 feet of lakefront, would be maintained and regulated by Locust Grove members within the Sandy Shore Community. A final settlement was made on these properties and docks in 1985. Locust Grove Company was converted to a business trust in 1991. Beneficiaries are no longer liable for any act or omission of the trustees.

Membership
Membership is limited to those who own a buildable lot in the Sandy Shore Development. A share may be acquired by buying a property in the Development, which includes the share in the sale, or by purchasing a share directly from Locust Grove Company. All community docks are owned and maintained by the Locust Grove Company. Boat slips can only be rented by shareholders.

Government
Eleven Trustees and an Executive Committee govern Locust Grove. Powers reserved for the beneficiaries are election of Trustees, approval of the budget, approval of capital expenditures, and changes to the Trust Agreement and By-laws.
